Editorial Policy

Contributions to this site (www.stokesvalley.co.nz) are welcome from anyone with an interest in Stokes Valley. Contributions will usually be included in the Community News or Your Say sections. All submissions for publication will be considered, but material included on the site will be at the sole discretion of the web site's producers, who also reserve the right to edit material for brevity, correctness or clarity without altering the original intent of what was submitted.

Every effort is made to provide the details of businesses and organisations accurately. Please contact us by e-mail with any corrections.

Copy Submission: Copy for publication must be submitted in electronic format. Graphics to accompany articles are welcome in either BMP, JPEG, JPG, GIF or TIFF formats. The right is reserved to edit or re-format any graphic submitted and to change its size (file or pixel) for the sake of space or download speed.

Responsibility: All contributors remain solely responsible for any fact or opinion they submit. No liability whatsoever is accepted for anything stated by contributing writers. Opinions are welcome and may be expressed in strong terms. All contributions, however, must be expressed within the bounds of common courtesy and decency.

Archiving: All articles published will ordinarily be archived, and will therefore remain accessible to the public permanently. Writers who wish to have their articles removed from the site should contact us by e-mail.

E-mail addresses will not be published with contributions unless the sender specifically requests this. However, in order for an article to be accepted for publication, a real name, and a suburb of residence will be required and usually will be published with the article. 


Privacy Policy

Statistics: Stokes Valley Online respects the privacy of its visitors and correspondents. No information is gathered about anyone logging onto the site except for normal web site statistics.

Cookies: No cookies are presently used with this site. They may be considered for future use, but only as a means of gathering data for the enhancement of the site for visitors.

Personal Information: Stokes Valley Online is not interested in gathering personal information about you for any purpose other than demographics. Normally, if you are corresponding with us, we will require your name and e-mail address. This information is necessary for courteous and effective communication. We prefer to receive your full name, but respect parties who wish to be identified by their first names only.

For contributions, we normally require your suburb of residence. This helps to clarify your perspective on any given matter for the benefit of other readers.

We will not sell or give your e-mail address (or any other personal details) to any other party at all. Our default policy is also not to publish your e-mail address with any article you may have written for us, or with any letter or material of yours that we choose to publish unless you have requested or agreed to the publication of your e-mail address.

Security: The Stokes Valley News Online takes all reasonable precautions to protect any stored information (whether offline or online).


Copyright Policy

Copyright protects the skill and effort on the part of any writer, artist or musician from reproduction of that work, and gives the author or organisation the right to take legal action for any unauthorised reproduction.

Just because you don't see the copyright sign (©), that doesn't mean that copyright doesn't exist. If you want to use material from this site, you first must obtain authorisation. You can do that bye-mailing info@stokesvalley.co.nz.
