Election Profile: Nigel Kearney
Wellington based software developer, Nigel
Kearney, will stand for ACT New Zealand in the Rimutaka electorate. Mr Kearney, 32,
welcomed the Nomination for the electorate where he was born and raised. "I spent my
childhood in Maoribank and then Silverstream and attended Upper Hutt College. It's great
to come back, catch up with old friends and have the opportunity to spread ACT's message
of freedom, choice and personal responsibility."
Mr Kearney is married, lives in central Wellington and, since graduating from Victoria
University, has worked in the IT industry both in New Zealand and overseas, mostly
developing software for use in tertiary education. He is also a former Wellington and New
Zealand Bridge representative. Nigel has been a member of ACT New Zealand since September
2001.
"The key issues for New Zealanders are health, education and crime. Both Labour and
National have failed the country badly in these areas. I am not a politician. I am honest,
hard working, compassionate and a straight talker. I am proud to be campaigning for your
ACT party vote in 2002."
